Musicians Elvin Bishop, Maria Muldaur and Charlie Musselwhite call the Bay Area their home. All three are up for the same Grammy for 'Best Traditional Blues Album. Elvin Bishop added an event. The album’s laid-back, front-porch vibe. mixes four rollicking Bishop originals with three co-writes and five raucous, well-chosen covers of songs by Lightnin' Hopkins, Fats Domino, Sunnyland Slim, Ted Taylor and Bobby Womack. And because one can never have too much fun, Bishop’s pals Kim Wilson, Charlie Musselwhite and Rick Estrin stop by the sessions, each adding his distinctive harmonica talent (and in Musselwhite’s case, vocals too) to a song.
The first album Elvin Bishop played on wasn’t a chart-topper – it was a life-changer. A whole lot of people have told me that, the guitarist acknowledges. And it sounds good every time. It really makes me feel good. It, too, became a fixture of the Fillmore and Bay Area club scene, and in fact was signed to Fillmore Records.
Let It Flow is the fourth solo album by Southern try rock/Swamp rock musician Elvin Bishop. The album was recorded in 1974 at Capricorn Studios in Macon, Georgia, several years after he left The Butterfield Blues Band. Guest musicians include Charlie Daniels, Dickey Betts, Toy Caldwell, Vassar Clements, and Sly Stone. The album briefly made it into the Top 100 LP's. The single "Travelin' Shoes" was his first charting single.

Following his years with Chicago's legendary Butterfield Blues Band, Elvin Bishop relocated to San Francisco and became a mainstay of the Bay Area jam scene, before forming his own band. Another client on Bill Graham's fledgling record label, the group became a popular Bay Area attraction. As a consequence, they developed a wide-ranging repertoire that often showcased the band's diverse talent - especially female vocalist Jo Baker, who becomes the focal point on much of this earlier material. As he had promised at the end of his band's set early in the evening, Elvin returned to the stage at 3:30 . following It's a Beautiful Day's set, to jam. Apparently, nobody else was in any condition to play, so he jams solo acoustic while encouraging audience participation for another 15 minutes or so to end the night.
