Romances is a 2004 collaboration album between Faith No More vocalist Mike Patton and Norwegian singer-songwriter Kaada. The overall sound of the album was inspired by Gustav Mahler, Frédéric Chopin, Johannes Brahms and Franz Liszt with soundtrack elements. The album's track titles were taken from 18th century French songs. All lyrics written by Kaada and Mike Patton; all music composed by Kaada/Patton.

Norwegian composer John Kaada and Mike Patton have partnered for Bacteria Cult, the pair’s first Kaada/Patton release since 2007’s Kaada/Patton Live DVD and the first album from the musicians since 2004’s Romances. Working with John Kaada on this latest release was an honor and pure pleasure, said Patton of resuming work Kaada. His compositions have always resonated deeply with me and his orchestral arrangements for this project are harmonically dense and delicious! Each individual piece is so well constructed and inventively assembled that my vocal passages practically sang themselves.

This album has a more relaxed feel than the rest of Patton’s work. This is a very haunting listen. You will be surprised how such simple music can be so haunting.

I used to listen to this a fair bit when it came out. I've been going a bit vinyl exclusive in my collection lately, I think this one is worth a pressing in that format.

Agreed, I'm in a similar spot myself. Can't see it happening any time soon but it would be great to have on vinyl.
