Yves Tumor’s latest album is a benchmark in experimental music. For an artist who’s demonstrated a remarkable ability to evoke moods of melancholy and fear in his music, Safe in the Hands of Love thrives on its intensity and excitement, revealing a side of Yves Tumor that we’ve never seen blossom so fully like this before.

Yves Tumor released his Warp Records debut, Safe In The Hands Of Love, today. The 10-track album has been teased via a number of singles, such as "Noid," which dropped in late July, and "Licking An Orchid," released with a video last week. Yves Tumor, though, is thrillingly untethered to style, and as such is a bard for our cultural moment. Having previously released drifting ambient, clattering experimental trap, lo-fi vintage boogie and more, the secretive Tennessee expat continues to swerve from one mood to the next. Honesty is a driving analogue techno number in the vein of Hieroglyphic Being: arid, punchy 808 claps drive a bleating vocal line from a heartbroken Tumor. Then he handbrake-turns into the superb Noid, a piece of Avalanches-style breakbeat pop that perkily addresses police brutality
Produced by Yves Tumor. Album Safe in the Hands of Love. She said, she said you don't have to relate, ooh Got a love around you, baby, that I haven't seen in days. Scorpio can't hold me back I cannot breathe, I swear It's torture.
Yves Tumor's new album, Safe in the Hands of Love, is a progression, while also serving to take Tumor closer to radio-friendly alt-rock. Yves Tumor, the secretive American musician (who may or may not have been born Sean Bowie) put out a new 41-minute album in September 2018, and it's one that may well be his most surprising and mature to date. Last year's Experiencing the Deposit of Faith hewed close to his mercurial debut, building on the atmospheric experimental and noise that seems to characterise his sound. The new album, Safe in the Hands of Love, is a progression, while also serving to take Tumor closer to radio-friendly alt-rock
Knoxville, Tennessee-bred Yves Tumor's latest release Safe in the Hands of Love is dissonant, sultry and everything in between. Yves' rolling, layered beats shuffle and dance around, stop, start and sway around you with mischievous intent to your ears. Golden honey-toned violins tie the breakbeat-ridden rhythms in knots and flirt with the vocals.
This self-released compilation from Yves Tumor is more atmospheric than last year’s excellent Serpent Music. Safe in the Hands of Love. Yves Tumor’s latest album is a benchmark in experimental music.
