Gracious!! ‎ (LP, Album, Unofficial). We're contemplating the second album by this symphonic prog crew, who made an interesting LP in the early Vertigo years (1970). This second one proudly shoulders on in the same vein. On the sidelong suite Super nova a threatening electronic rock introduction gives way to another of those angular mellotron themes that we know from the debut.

The Gracious Few is the debut studio album by rock supergroup The Gracious Few. Drummer Chad Gracey explained the album's sound, "We knew we wanted to be a little harder than what Live had been doing and even what Candlebox had been doing. Chad Taylor comes up with a lot of the riffs that we start the songs from and he was just playing this real sort of heavy, bluesy stuff. Once we heard that we were like, 'Wow, this is kind of a Led Zeppelin, throwback feel' and it just sort of happened.

The first half of the album is a four-part suite, "Super Nova. After its Floydian opening instrumental, the band launches into the bleak "Blood Red Sun"; with a dystopic narrative of environmental holocaust and its martial drumbeat, it's an ideal complement to King Crimson's "21st Century Schizoid Ma. Strange, then, that this should lead to "Say Goodbye to Love," an effectively weepy guitar ballad of lost romance and tear-jerking harmonies. It's on the second half of the album, though, that Gracious hits escape velocity.

Gracious!!, Gracious' sophomore and final album of the seventies until partially reuniting in nineties, leaves me even colder than their scattershot debut album Gracious!! The band have become more focused and have concentrated on structured songs that again lean heavily on prog influences of the era such as Floydian guitars and more prominent use of Mellotron. But for me, it just doesn't work

Gracious is a UK Progressive Rock group formed in 1968 who also did their 1st tour with The Who and the band recorded 2 releases, Gracious! in 1970 and This i. racious!! in 1972 on legendary vertigo record label and then in 1996 Tim Wheatley on Bass, Guitars, Vocals and Robert Lipson on percussion reformed and recorded the album echoes with the addition of Sev Lewkowicz on guitars and keyboards.
