Elvis Presley Posts 53rd Top 40 Album on Billboard 200 Chart. There’s also a few discs of stray material that either were never on LPs or was discovered after he passed away. For example, Heartbreak Hotel, his first hit for the label, was not on the first album - or the second
Elvis Country in 1971 was the last Presley album with a consistent theme and sound. There are some country classics done in Presley’s pile-driving style- I Washed My Hands in Muddy Water, Faded Love, and Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On. Elvis also displays his still superb voice on titles like Snowbird and Funny How Times Slips Away. He goes back to his country and western roots with Bill Monroe’s Little Cabin on the Hill
Elvis Presley never sounded better than he does on these recordings made in Memphis at Chip Moman's American Sound Studios in January 1969. The artist was still on an incredible high following the success of his legendary NBC-TV "comeback" special, which had aired a little over a month earlier. Other standouts include "Without Love (There Is Nothing)," wherein Elvis gives a foretaste of the huge vocal presence he'd develop over the next few years; Neil Diamond's dreamy "And the Grass Won't Pay No Mind"; "Inherit the Wind" and an effective spiritual, "Who Am I?" 1969 was, of course, the great turning point for the King.
