Pepper's recording sessions. The clip, premiered at The Guardian, is a stripped-down version of the album's opening title cut and includes some fantastic chatter between John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison. It's an unadorned and intimate version of the song that offers a glimpse into how The Beatles first imagined the track. It's also disorienting to hear it without any of the horns or sound effects (there's no cheering crowd or laughter). And a number of guitar licks are noticeably missing

The album enjoyed a fifteen week stay at the top of the US Top 200 albums during its initial chart run of 88 weeks. The Beatles' next LP, which has already taken over seven months to record is at last nearing completion. Titled 'Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' it will be finished during the second week of April. Among tracks now completed are 'A Day In The Life', a John Lennon solo on which he is backed by a 41-piece orchestra. When I'm 64' a novelty number in early phonographic style featuring Paul McCartney.

Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is the eighth studio album by English rock band The Beatles.

Additionally, Sgt. Pepper‘s groundbreaking sonics – its mix of pioneering textures, complex composition and inventive recording techniques –also won the album standing as a legitimate art form that revised and extended classical music’s archetypes. This achievement also imbued much of rock itself with a new prestige and aspiration. Almost as an afterthought, the stereo album was mixed very quickly without the Beatles at the sessions. Yet it is the stereo album that most people listen to today. In other words, popular music’s most elaborate and intricate creation – and one that helped end the mono era – wasn’t made to be heard in stereo. Perhaps that’s been Sgt. Pepper‘s unlikeliest secret, though for those who compared the original mixes over the years the difference was noteworthy: The mono version hit harder, sounded fuller, whereas the stereo soundstage diffused that force.

The Beatles' 1967 album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band has a widely recognized album cover that depicts several dozen celebrities and other images. It was created by Jann Haworth and Peter Blake, who in 1967 won the Grammy Award for Best Album Cover, Graphic Arts for their work on it. Many people have speculated about the cover's intended meaning.

The Beatles are going all out to pay tribute to the June 1 50th anniversary of the release of their Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album. They today announced several special reissue packages of CD and vinyl versions coming May 26 featuring new audio mixes of the album and a special super deluxe six-disc set full of unreleased outtakes.

Pepper, Paul McCartney’s original concept made real by pop artist Peter Blake and his wife Jann Haworth, went on to win a Grammy for Best Album Cover. It cost almost 50 times more to create the cover than that of a regular LP at the time. On its 50th anniversary we look at the making of this ground-breaking album by one of the most famous and critically acclaimed rock bands of all time. More from The Mirror. Dear Coleen: I'm nervous about getting divorced at 63 and starting again.
