LyricsThe Love I Thought I'd Found. Lyrics for The Love I Thought I'd Found by John's Children.

I hope that our few remaining friends Give up on trying to save us I hope we come up with a fail-safe plot To piss off the dumb few that forgave us. I hope the fences we mended Fall down beneath their own weight And I hope we hang on past the last exit I hope it's already too late. And I hope the junkyard a few blocks from here Someday burns down And I hope the rising black smoke carries me far away And I never come back to this town again. And I hope when you think of me years down the line You can't find one good thing to say And I'd hope that if I found the strength to walk out You'd stay the hell out of my way. I am drowning There is no sign of land You are coming down with me Hand in unlovable hand And I hope you die I hope we both die. More on Genius.

I thought happy endings were for princesses, not angsty girls from Minneapolis named Judalene. I never expected anyone to sweep me off my feet – not even James, the handsome man who sat across me for seven years at work. We exchanged glances, flirted a little, but I always convinced myself that he wasn’t interested in me. Turns out, he wasn’t. When I was younger and complained naively to my girlfriends that I’d never find love, they would reassure me by saying you can’t go looking for it, that I should stop blaming myself, and that everyone deserves love. I took their advice and never looked for love, and at times, almost felt like I deserved it, too. But it turns out that if you don’t leave your house or return people’s texts, you really won’t find love. Nor do you deserve it. Boy, I sure proved them wrong. But I’m happy for other women who’ve met the love of their lives.

I always want them to stay the age they’re at now. When they were 18 months old, I thought that was the cutest age. I thought the same when they were two, and then three and then four. I guess however old they are, they’re perfect. I wish all the children in the world were as happy as mine.

It helps children understand themselves and others, allowing them to cultivate valuable qualities like compassion and empathy. It is also a healthy way for children to express their emotions and deal with emotionally challenging situations. I thought I'd keep it as a pet And let it sleep with me. Read Complete Poem.

Re the "filler track" flipside of this single, SNB (for it was he) appeared at a book launch in 2014, to promote one of his volumes of memoirs, and I asked him about the above rumour. He denied all knowledge of any involvement by anyone remotely famous, saying "oh that was just one of our little jokes". But he would, wouldn't he :-)
