Charles Spurling was born in Cincinnati in April 1936. Spurling had a really tough upbringing with his father leaving his mother when he was young. As a teenager Charles was part of a gang and their main rivals were the Isley Brothers. The name of the game for these gangs was singing – not shooting. Both gangs would stand on a street corner taking turns to sing and that was how many started back then

Ray Charles is the first release on LP by American pianist, vocalist, and band leader Ray Charles. Originally released in 1957 on Atlantic Records, it was re-released as Hallelujah I Love Her So in 1962. Many of the tracks had been hit singles for Ray Charles in the preceding years, notably "Mess Around" in 1953, "A Fool for You" and "I Got A Woman" in 1955, "Drown In My Own Tears" and "Hallelujah I Love Her So" in 1956. All songs written by Ray Charles except as indicated.
As Spurling deftly illustrates, that alienation gave Buck her stance as a writer, gracing her with the outsider vision needed to interpret one world to another. Buck's unconventional childhood also seems to have made her resistant to group think: In midlife, as a famous novelist, she made enemies criticizing the racism of the mission movement; she also shocked contemporaries by writing in her memoir, The Child Who Never Grew, about her brain-damaged daughter Carol, at a time when such children were quietly institutionalized and publicly forgotten
King Charles is often viewed as a tyrant due to his belief that he could govern according to his own conscience and no other sources. Many of his subjects disagreed with his policies, particularly his levying of taxes without consent from parliament. The track features YUNGBLUD’s signature pop-punk vocals as well as his ironic and rebellious lyrics over an upbeat guitar production. What have the artists said about the song? YUNGBLUD: At the minute I feel like young people are not being listened to, so music is how I can express my opinions and create change.

I spend a lot of my time digging, looking for treasure – something shocking, or certainly surprising'. An established presence in the top flight of British biography, Hilary Spurling is renowned for uncovering secrets. A pattern emerges in her major books: the subject claims or appears to have had an unexciting domestic or emotional life; Spurling get to work and finds quite the opposite. I'm a good ferret," she says. The families of my subjects may know secrets, but they don't realise what sort of animal it is they're putting down their trousers.
